More often than not the taupo motel I stay at is booked out for long weekends and the one coming up is no exception. Working for the tourism centre, I am often in contact with the managers and owners of these places and almost everyone I have spoken to over the last few days has said they have no vacancies. This is great for the town as it means we are obviously doing something right and still maintaining the reputation of being a favorite holiday destination. It will be interesting to see the stats from the weekend and find out how many of the visitors were domestic and how many were foreign.
