The Republic of Hout Bay

March 8th, 2010 by admin

With car rental south africa, you can travel along Chapman’s Peak, and stop at a sunny spot on the wall of Hout Bay Harbour. In the distance you will spot a Leopard sitting on a rock, staring out into the bay, this is the guardian of Hout Bay. A time tarnished bronze statue which was created by Ivan-Mitford Barberton, who attributed this sculpture in memory of the Leopards who used to frequent the area in the late 1920’s. When the sun sets, and the sky turns a crimson red, the statue sits in a profile form, contrasting against a beautiful back drop. It really is quite a spectacular view.
