Add Interest to An Aquarium With a Colorful Fish

A quick way to create a beautiful aquarium is to choose colorful fish.  One of the most popular choices for freshwater tanks is the cardinal tetra.  These small fish brighten an aquarium with their brilliantly colored bodies and long red stripes.  They are peaceful, do well with other little fish, and exist happily in schools.  To thrive they need well-maintained water kept at temperatures of 72 to 79 degrees.  Subdued lighting as well as tall and floating plants should be provided for protection, and so the fish do not feel threatened.  They do well on many types of food but look their best on a varied diet of flake, live, and frozen foods.
