Who Was The 5th Beatle Anyway, Brian Epstein?

February 5th, 2010 by admin

On January 24,’62 the Beatles started to be managed by Brian Epstein. His role in the group was cut short by his sudden death on August 27,’67 of a drug overdose. Along with the Beatles, Brian managed other groups and artists, such as: Gerry and the Pacemakers, Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas, Cilla Black, and the Remo Four…but the Beatles were by far the most popular.Paul McCartney once said, “If anyone was the Fifth Beatle, it was Brian”. Brian has been credited with much of the success of the Beatles, especially in the early years. In this article we will be exploring the impact that Brian Epstein had on the Beatles.Brian Samuel Epstein was born on September’,’34 in the port city of Liverpool, England. At the young age of 16 he expressed his desire to become a dress designer, but that didn’t sit well with his father. His father, mortified at this suggestion, ordered him to “report for duty” at the family’s furniture shop. This was certainly not Brian’s idea of a meaningful career, but he did comply with the demand. It was through the issues of the Mersey Beat, and the various posters around Liverpool, that Brian first heard of the Beatles. November 9,’61 was to prove to be an eventful day, as it was on this day that Brian first heard the Beatles play. It was at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, and he was immediately taken by their unique sound, and their on-stage humor. Things really started to develop from here, and on January 24,’62 Brian was signed to a 5-year management contract.Although this was the first time that Brian had managed an entertainment act, he made his impact known early. He influenced their dress code, and the attitude that they exhibited on stage. Brian encouraged the group to get rid of their leathers and wear suits. He had them stop swearing, smoking, drinking, and eating onstage. If you remember the synchronized bow at the end of the Beatles performances, it was Brian who suggested this move.Brian made a lot of trips to London in the early years to try and secure a recording contract. This was to prove to be a tough sell, as the Beatles were refused by many record labels, such as Philips, Pye, Oriole, Decca, and Columbia. You may have heard of the infamous Decca audition…one which we will be writing about in a future article. With his options running out, Brian eventually worked his way over to EMI, and George Martin, the manager of the Parlophone label, signed the group without even seeing the Beatles play. He was to later say that it was Brian’s enthusiasm for the Beatles that eventually won the deal.August 27,’67 was to prove to be a fateful day in the lives of the Beatles, for on this day, Brian Epstein died of a drug overdose. The man who had orchestrated their sudden rise to fame and glory was gone. They now had to manage their careers on their own. They did not attend his funeral as they felt it would only draw media and fans. Years later, in 2008, the first contract that the Beatles signed with Brian was auctioned off for 240,000 pounds…

February 3rd, 2010 by admin

Getting out there in the dating realm is always tough; but for Christians like me; it seems even tougher; especially if you want to find someone that shares the faith that you have. I’ve been looking so hard for the person who will be special to me; someone who is a Christian of course; and it has yet to happen to me. I did hear some good about online Christian dating though; so I’m giving this a go to see if this is how I will find that special someone. I know of others who have had success with online Christian dating (christian chat room); and just maybe this will be a successful venture for me as well.

Best Retirement Community Information on the Web

February 1st, 2010 by admin

I was not thrilled with my wife and her idea to move into a senior retirement community.  I did not look or feel like a senior and had a lot of misconceptions about retirees.  I did not want to settle into a rocking chair for the rest of my life.  As we discussed our options, my wife showed me a brochure of this wonderful community.  I was amazed with all that they had to offer.  the people in the brochure looked like the kind of people I wanted to retire with.  We decided to take a trip to see it in person. We loved it.  It was just like the brochure and the web site made it look.

Eyewear Fashions

January 31st, 2010 by admin

If you are in the market for a new pair of glasses, it won’t be long until you are aware of eyewear fashions and trends. There are so many to choose from, which may make it a bit more difficult to decide on a look to go for. From rectangular lenses with thick, black frames, to cute little pink ones with rhinestone embellishments, you can take your pick. I suggest you first do a little research about your face shape as well as what is in style right now, before you go to make your decision. This way, you’ll feel a little more prepared when you face four walls of glasses in every shape, size and color.

Selling After Retirement

January 31st, 2010 by admin

My husband and I have decided to sell our home. Now that our kids have left the nest we don’t need all of this space. It’s time for something smaller. We are looking for a good place to list property for sale, yet haven’t found one we like. Our plan is to hire a real estate agent, but to bring in as much interest as possible on our own. That way we can get exactly what we are asking for the house. We haven’t decided yet if we want an apartment or condo, but that can wait until we sell the house. There is no rush at this point.

Sell Gold Jewelry – Reasons Why Now Is The Perfect Chance To Sell Your Gold Jewelry

January 30th, 2010 by admin

There’s no better time than the present to be selling gold jewelry. Would you know why? Unless you have not heard the news, you’ve been lost on a desert island someplace, or you’ve been preoccupied getting depressed over all of the bleak news pertaining to the state of the economy these days to pay attention to the good news, the price of gold is on a meteoric rise at the present, valued at well above a grand per ounce. That is correct, you didn’t misread: You should be selling gold jewelry right now because it is valued at well over a grand per ounce!Gold has been on a consistent rise over the last several, averaging well above 20% annually, with the only exception being a 5.6% decline in the year 2008. Even in the 2009, gold managed to recover from the global recession and rebound already, at a 23 percent increase from 2008 levels! So what does that tell you? It tells you that while the cyclical bubbles and busts, and the rise and decline of the dot coms, the boom and bust of real estate, the decline of the stock market, and the devaluation of the US dollar, have all proven to be extremely risky investment vehicles, the only stable investment throughout this entire period has been gold.So if you have been in possession of gold for a long time, now would be a good time to cash in on it, if you are in need of some extra cash due to this global economic recession that we have just been through. So where should we be selling gold jewelry? Whom should we be selling gold jewelry to? And how can one be sure that you redeem the most lucrative price? These are all very important questions. The answer is two-fold:1. Avoid giving your gold to a retail operation, a pawn-shop, or jewelry exchange. Basically any type of customer-focused retail shop is a bad idea. Why is that the case? This is because these stores are in in business for flipping gold. They desire to buy gold from you for the purposes of of reselling it straight away, while earning money during the process. They basically are gold brokerages who seek to earn commissions using the classic buy low to sell high plan. So it is quite natural, they would be be up against tight margins of profit and wouldn’t be able to offer you as much as you would be happy with.2. You really should be reselling your gold to a gold refinery. Why is this the case? Because a gold refinery does business by obtaining gold, melting it down, and redistributing the gold raw material to other companies. There exists no middle man. There is no flipping gold for profit. They can offer a better price for your gold because the margin of profit in this particular situation is much greater. Thus it creates a win-win solution that satisfies both the refinery and you.Gold remains a stable investment, and has continued to remain so while we have born witness to the boom and bust of the dot coms, the housing bubble and burst, the market crash of the year 2008, and the devaluation of the dollar. So now is the best time to be selling gold jewelry

I Am Grey’s Anatomy Biggest Marketer.

January 29th, 2010 by admin

I believe that if you are going to be an avid viewer of a popular television show, then you might as well be the biggest fan of the show as possible.  Some of you may be thinking why is it important to champion the success of a television program if it is already doing well in the polls.  Well, most individuals fail to realize how things really work in Hollywood.  Just because a show has a strong and faithful following does not mean it will remain on the air for an endless amount of seasons.  This is why I am a strong promoter for the grey’s anatomy show.  One of the ways I market the TV series is by providing a Grey’s Anatomy quiz for individuals that watched the previous night’s show.  I do this through my own grey’s anatomy fan site and blog. This will keep viewers interested and help this show maintain their fan base.
