Newcomer to Texas Electric Rates

My daughter just moved to Texas and was all excited by the choices available for electricity. Where she is from there are no options in the power company you have. It is set by where you live. Apparently where she moved to she gets to choose her Texas Electric Rates. I had no idea it is even possible to do that. She is so lucky! She told me she gets a choice of which plan she wants to be on, so she picked one that is child friendly as she has children who use a lot of power. She is thrilled that she’ll be saving money on electricity now!

Old Classmate is a Dentist in Dallas Texas

I was shopping at an elite children’s clothing store when I saw an old classmate.  She looked like she did back in high school.  I asked her how she was doing these days.  She told me that she became a dentist in Dallas TX and had a thriving practice with four other dentists.  She married a brain surgeon who also works in the Dallas area and teaches medical students and residents as part of his job.  I mentioned that I also went into the dental field as a dental assistant.  We stood in the store for about an hour discussing the latest dental procedures and products.

Why I Should Have Done My Research Before Donating

I had an old beat up car in my garage and all it was doing was taking up space. Space that I desperately needed. None of the kids wanted to drive it because it wasn’t “cool” so I didn’t see the point of it just sitting around. So I thought to myself that it would be nice to donate a car to charity so someone would benefit from it. I contacted a charity and did the exchange. The only thing I didn’t check out though was if it was an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) organization so I could get a tax deduction. Turns out the charity wasn’t IRS-approved and I wasn’t eligible for the tax deduction. It still was a great charity to donate to though. However if you are donating your car to charity for this purpose make sure you check if they are IRS-approved first.
